Jesus Machuca and a juvenile suspect reportedly robbed another person, threatened them with a knife and tried to set their home on fire, Boise police say.
Officers were sent at around 10 a.m. Saturday to a report of an assault in the 6000 block of Kirkwood Road. When they arrived they spotted Machuca, 19, and the juvenile walking away from the house, police said in a news release.
Officers detained the two, and found evidence of the theft and the threat. They also concluded Machuca poured lighter fluid on a part of the victim’s residence and tried to set it on fire, according to the news release.
Machuca allegedly spit on one of the officers after he was formally arrested.

Machuca was arraigned Monday on five felonies: burglary, first-degree arson, assault on a law enforcement officer and two counts of robbery. His next listed court date is a Sept. 12 preliminary hearing, at which a judge will decide if there’s enough evidence to send the case to a full trial.
The juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention center. As a minor, no further details were immediately available on his or her case.
