A Meridian man accused of hitting 14 parked cars on Boise's Warm Springs Avenue late Saturday night faces charges of DUI and leaving the scene of multiple accidents.

Maxwell Sholtz, 33, had blood alcohol levels of 0.172 and 0.174 — more than twice the legal limit for drivers — when he was apprehended, Boise Police spokeswoman Haley Williams said. He failed field sobriety tests, Williams said.

BPD officers were called to Warm Springs around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night after a report of a reckless driver. Officers found the reported hit-and-run vehicle and located Sholtz nearby, Williams said.

The 14 cars were parked on Warm Springs near Bruce, she said.

Sholtz faces 14 misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene of an accident and one charge of misdemeanor DUI. Online court records showed no hearing date for charges from this weekend, but they show Sholtz served jail time in 2010 for a second-offense DUI.
