The teen found dead at the scene of a reported shooting in New Plymouth was identified by Payette County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.

Deondre Kinney, 17, of Payette, was dead when deputies arrived at a home on Highway 52 in New Plymouth Tuesday around 8:15 p.m.

Two other people — one teen and one adult —were present, and one of them called police immediately after the shooting, Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Creech said. One of those people was holding the gun when it went off, he said, but investigators have not determined yet whether the shooting death was an accident or homicide.

Idaho State Police are helping with the investigation.
