Staff members and medical personnel at the Idaho State Correctional Institution south of Boise were unable to save Jedadiah D. Guild, 31, after he suffered a seizure at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Guild, a Boise resident, was in housing Unit 11 at the 1,446-bed prison for long-term offenders, said Jeff Ray, spokesman for the Idaho Department of Correction. Guild was pronounced dead at 12:04 p.m.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the investigation into Guild’s death, the prison’s normal procedure whenever there is a death involving unknown causes.

“He had a seizure and we’re trying to find out why,” Ray said.

Guild was serving time for aggravated assault, attempted strangulation, domestic assault or battery and grand theft cases out of Ada County, Ray said.

He was first incarcerated in May 2007. Although eligible for parole since January 2013, he had remained in prison and was scheduled to be released in November 2020.
