Anthony J. Amore, 26, was arrested on three outstanding felony warrants and will likely face fresh charges of car theft, eluding officers and obstructing officers, Garden City Police Sgt. Leon Dennis said Monday night.
The incident began about 6 p.m. when a patrol officer spotted a stolen vehicle on State Street and attempted to make a traffic stop, Dennis said. The driver jumped out of the vehicle, which continued down the road and crashed near Grace Assisted Living, 9995 W State St.
The driver fled, going over numerous fences, Dennis said. Police established a perimeter in the area and searched, aided by Boise police and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. A police dog helped locate Amore an hour to 90 minutes later, hiding about a quarter-mile away in a subdivision on Sleepy Hollow Lane, Dennis said. Amore surrendered.
As of 9 p.m. the suspect was still being interviewed and had not been booked into jail, Dennis said. The outstanding warrants, all local, were for burglary and failure to appear, he said.
