Drunken driver hits teen pedestrian near New Plymouth, deputies say

A 14-year-old boy was sent to the hospital with a broken leg after a New Plymouth man struck him with a truck Saturday evening, according to a Payette County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Curtis Harwell, 62, of New Plymouth was driving a 2011 Dodge pickup north on Ada Road when he hit the teen, walking north with a 17-year-old on the west side of the road. Harwell came to a stop in a ditch, according to the release.

Harwell failed a sobriety test, with a blood alcohol content above the legal limit. He was charged with aggravated DUI and arrested, according to the release.
