Two bail bonds agents are still under investigation for their part in a shooting that happened June 17 at Sunnyslope Market near Caldwell, according to Canyon County spokesperson Joe Decker.

“The investigation into the Sunnyslope shooting is still open,” Decker said. “No charging decision have been made as to whether the ... bail agents will be charged; as of yet anyway.”

Marco Mejia, 26, of Caldwell, reportedly pulled a gun on the bondsmen when they attempted to arrest a woman with Mejia, Chelsea M. Johnson, 25, of Caldwell. The bondsmen both fired their weapons in response. One shot into the ground, the other shot Mejia in the head.

The head wound was not fatal. Mejia was treated for his wounds, arrested, and charged with a felony probation violation, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault.

Johnson was arrested on a bench warrant following her failure to appear in court for a felony drug charge.
