Lock your cars, deputies advise after thefts in Star

Sunglasses, cash, a digital camera and a Bluetooth headset were all taken from unlocked cars on Union Way, Cottage Cove Way and Rose Lake Street sometime Monday night or Tuesday morning.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office says at least three people’s cars were broken into in the neighborhood south of where Floating Feather and Star roads meet.

The common thread: They were all unlocked.

“The best way to avoid being a victim of theft is to make sure your homes and vehicles are locked all the time,” the sheriff’s office advised in a notice sent out Wednesday.

The agency says March and April are the busiest times for vehicle burglaries in Ada County, but many are also reported in early summer.
