Officers responded to a house in the 100 block of 18th Avenue North after homeowners inspecting their property reportedly found squatters inside, according to the Nampa Police Department.
The intruders or squatters reportedly had sleeping bags and were trying to find a warm place to stay. The homeowner held the intruders at gunpoint while calling police to the scene, said NPD spokesman Sgt. Tim Riha. At some point, the homeowner fired two shots into the floor as warning shots, Riha said.
When police arrived they reportedly heard the shots, called into the property and told those inside to come out. The owner of the property came out, Riha said, but the intruders fled.
No one was injured, and the incident, reported about 8:30 p.m., is under investigation.
