Police pursuit on I-84 ends in arrest, clogs traffic

A 19-mile pursuit down eastbound Interstate 84 at rush hour Wednesday ended between Ten Mile and Meridian roads with spike strips, a PIT maneuver and arrest of the driver, Idaho State Police report.

The maneuver stopped the driver, and police briefly closed that portion of I-84 for a short time about 5:15 p.m. as troopers took the suspect into custody, according to ISP dispatch and Twitter posts. Traffic was slowed for much longer as one lane remained closed.

The chase began at milepost 22, before the Middleton exit, and ended at milepost 43, an ISP dispatcher said. Information about what sparked the pursuit or what charges the driver faces were not available Wednesday evening.
