Police: Two young children hospitalized after being left in a hot vehicle in Nampa

Two young children were hospitalized and one man arrested after officers found the children left unattended in a vehicle in direct sunlight Saturday, according to Nampa Police Department.

Concerned citizens alerted police around 5:15 p.m. to the two children, both under 3 years old, left alone in a vehicle near the 16000 block of North Marketplace Boulevard with the windows rolled up and in direct sunlight, police said.

The children were in distress and had to be transported to the hospital for medical evaluation, police said.

The children’s father, Salvador Navarro Chavalla, 31, was arrested and charged with felony injury to children.

The children were put into protective custody, police said.
