UPDATE: Boise police make arrest in investigation of bank robberies

Kent Glen Williams, 47, was in the Ada County Jail Friday on felony charges of robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, connected to the April 14 robbery of a KeyBank at 4920 W. Overland Road.

That robbery was one of three Boise police this week said may be linked. The others include the July 22 robbery of another KeyBank at 1111 S. Broadway Ave., and a third robbery dating to July 25, 2012, of a bank in the same area of Broadway.

Police cited similarities in appearance and style among the suspects in each robbery. In addition, each robbery occurred between 9-10 a.m.

As of Friday, Williams was only charged in connection with the April robbery. But police said other charges are possible as they continue to investigate with the help of Garden City police “and other local and federal agencies.”

Boise police sent out a notice Wednesday asking for tips on the three robberies. According to a Friday followup, the agency got information from Garden City authorities Thursday that helped them find a teal older-model sedan in the 3500 block of East Childen Boulevard that was tied to the April robbery.

“Officers soon were able to make contact with the suspect at the same location,” a BPD press release states.

Williams was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in Ada County Magistrate Court.

Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS to leave an anonymous tip. People who give information that leads to an arrest may get an reward of up to $1,000, police said.
