Chase starts with shots fired, ends with 7 charges filed

Nampa police say they arrested Jesus Torres Jr. on Saturday after a chase through the city. He remained in the Canyon County Jail as of Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident started while officers investigated a trespassing complaint near North 39th Street and Garrity Boulevard. When they arrived, Torres fled in an unspecified vehicle “while firing off a handgun with numerous people in the area,” a police press release states. Police say the handgun had been stolen.

That triggered a chase through Nampa that ended when Torres lost control and crashed his vehicle into a power pole, police say.

The Canyon County Jail lists seven charges for Torres, including aggravated assault, eluding police, failing to purchase a driver’s license, driving under the influence, discharging a firearm at another person, grand theft and a fugitive warrant out of California.
