UPDATE: Man arrested and charged with robbing a Boise credit union; missing mustache and cowboy hat

Boise police arrested a man they suspect robbed the Idaho Central Credit Union on West Overland Road on Thursday afternoon.

Ernest Pedro Tavares III, 23, of Boise was charged with felony robbery and booked into Ada County Jail early Friday morning, according to Boise police.

Witnesses told police a man in a cowboy hat approached the credit union counter at 4:46 p.m. Thursday and demanded money. No weapon was displayed, but witnesses said they feared the man may be armed. The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said they found Tavares after a Crime Stoppers tip led them to a West Boise residence Thursday.

Witnesses and surveillance photos indicate the man was in his 30s with a mustache and small goatee. He wore a dark jacket and tie.

In his booking photo Tavares appears clean-shaven.
