Boise man accused of drunken driving, hitting bicyclist

Barrett G. Gleixner, 25, was arrested Tuesday night after police responded to reports of the injured bicyclist, according to the Boise Police Department.

The agency says he’ll be charged with two felonies — aggravated driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

Officers went to South 15th Street and West River Street at about 10:20 p.m., where witnesses told them that a car struck a bicycle as it entered the intersection and then drove away. Officers shortly found a car matching the witnesses’ descriptions, headed away from the area, and stopped it.

According to police, the driver, Gleixner, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The agency says Gleixner failed sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level measured .189 through a breath test.

The injured cyclist was taken to an unspecified hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The adult male’s name has not been released.

Gleixner was still listed as in the Ada County Jail midday Wednesday. Idaho’s online court records system was unavailable to immediately confirm his charges.
