A Caldwell man faces felony robbery and misdemeanor battery charges after an altercation between two groups of men at a Caldwell convenience store Saturday.
Roman Jose Fernandez, 23, is accused of pointing a gun at a man and battering him outside the Jacksons store on West Simplot Boulevard about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, according to court documents. He also is accused of trying to rob three men.
Fernandez told police one of the reported victims took $400 from his wallet at a party a few months ago, and his actions Saturday were intended to get the money back. According to the document, he admitted hitting one man in the back with his .22 caliber , ripping the shirt of another man and taking one of the men's truck keys.
Caldwell residents Eliseo Torres, 27, and Anthony Harper, 23, were reportedly with Fernandez during the incident and were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, Caldwell police said Monday.

Fernandez had his initial court appearance Monday. Bond was set at $35,000, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 23 to determine whether there's enough evidence to advance the case to 3rd District Court, where felonies are tried. He remained in jail Monday evening.
