Owyhee County man accused of pointing gun at passerby in Boise

Christopher Michael Kensler, 35, was in the Ada County Jail Monday night, held on three felonies after the incident Sunday.

Boise police say officers were called to the area of North 8th and West Idaho streets for what was originally reported as a fight just after midnight. At the scene, several people pointed out a man in a black pickup truck, saying he had pointed a gun at them and also kept revving his engine, causing them to worry he was going to hit them with his truck.

Officers then carefully approached the truck and arrested the man, Kensler, at gunpoint.

According to Boise police, Kensler allegedly had pulled a black handgun up to eye level as if pointing it at an individual crossing the road.

Kensler had no relationship to the victims at the scene, said Lynn Hightower, spokeswoman for Boise Police. Investigators are unsure whether other events had preceded the incident.

Kensler was arraigned Monday on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and an enhancement for the use of a deadly weapon while committing a felony. He was held on $75,000 bond and next has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 10.
