Boise mobile home fire investigated as arson; reward offered

The 2:45 a.m. fire at Unit 1 of 12565 W. Fairview Ave. destroyed one unoccupied mobile home and damaged another one with three residents inside.

Monday, the Boise Fire Department announced that the fire is believed to be a case of arson.

The Idaho Arson Award Program is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and/or conviction in the case. Anyone with information about the fire should call either the state fire marshal’s Arson Line, 877-75-ARSON, or Crime Stoppers, 208-343-COPS. You can also submit information through Crime Stoppers’ website or by texting “Tip236” plus your message to 274637.

The destroyed structure had been abandoned by its owner and was set to be removed from the mobile home park. At the time of the fire, Boise Fire spokeswoman Tammy Barry said the utilities were disconnected and that investigators thought the fire started due to an unknown heat source.
