Boise man jailed on charges he injured infant

Jacob K. Litzinger, 24, of Boise faces three felony charges of injury to a child in connection with the hospitalization of a 3-month-old child.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare contacted Boise police after the infant's injuries, described as potentially serious, were determined to be suspicious May 27, police said in a news release Thursday. The baby and an older sibling were placed in protective custody.

Investigators identified Litzinger as the suspect and routed their findings to Ada County prosecutors. A warrant was issued Wednesday, and Litzinger was arrested and booked into the county jail.

Litzinger was arraigned in magistrate court Thursday. Bond was set at $10,000, and a preliminary hearing was set for June 25 to determine if there is sufficient evidence to route the case to 4th District Court.
