Boise man arrested on charge of firing gun near a group of people

John R. Moore, 32, was arrested early Saturday morning after Boise police determined he matched witness descriptions of a man who fired a gun near a group of people Friday night.

The gunfire was reported about 10:30 p.m. in the alley behind the 1600 block of West River Street. Officers arrived and found several witnesses, including one who said the bullet barely missed him, Boise police reported Monday. No one was injured.

Witnesses provided officers with a detailed description of the shooter's vehicle and a possible ID for the shooter. About 1:20 a.m., police arrested Moore at an apartment complex near West Franklin and North 15th streets.

Police said Monday one shot was fired but did not release information about what preceded the gunshot.

Moore was arraigned Monday on a charge of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but without the intent to kill. His preliminary hearing is set for June 19, and his bond was set at $75,000. He remained in the Ada County Jail Monday evening.
