Police: Boise man arrested on a felony warrant for robbery

A Boise man with a felony warrant for robbery was arrested Monday afternoon, according to a Boise Police Department press release.

Atsou Amouzougan, 22, was taken into custody at a shopping center near the intersection of Overland and Maple Grove roads at about 4:30 p.m. by Boise police and members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, according to the release.

The warrant was issued after a May 16 incident in which witnesses described a man who attacked two people near their home in West Boise. They said Amouzougan stole several items from them, hit them repeatedly and fled on foot, police said.

A warrant was issued May 29. When officers arrested Amouzougan they found illegal prescription medication on him, according to the release.

Amouzougan was booked on charges of robbery, a controlled substance violation, possession of a controlled substance, use of a firearm or deadly weapon in the commission of a crime and possession of an illicit drug without prescription.

Amouzougan is up for a preliminary hearing on June 16.
