Emmett woman charged in wreck that sent two to hospital

An Emmett woman injured in a wreck early Sunday on Idaho 16 has been charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Rosa I. Arechiga, 21, of Emmett, was cited Monday for the misdemeanor crime. She is scheduled for arraignment on May 26 before Magistrate Tyler Smith in Emmett.

Arechiga was headed south on Idaho 16 at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday when the 1996 Toyota Camry she was driving crossed the center line and struck the guardrail on the other side of the road.

The Camry came to a stop partly in the lane and was struck by a northbound 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van driven by Darlene G. O’Neal, 53, of Emmett.

Arechiga and O’Neal were treated at Walter Knox Memorial Hospital in Emmett.

Arechiga was convicted in 2011 for underage consumption of alcohol in a juvenile court case from Gem County, according to online state court records.
