The one-day training for court interpreters and bilingual staff will feature nationally recognized trainers with experience in the fields of interpreting and domestic violence.
Domestic violence cases can be particularly difficult because of the trauma to victims and specialized terminology used in criminal cases. The training session, using trainers approved by the Office on Violence Against Women, will focus on domestic violence issues, ethics, professional boundaries, vocabulary development and cultural sensitivities to crimes of violence.
