Vandals target mailboxes, tires in Boise's North End

Boise police officers are searching for the person or people responsible for various reports of vandalism in the North End late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Eleven mailboxes were dented or knocked over between the 2800 block and 3500 block of North 36th Street, police said. Officers found evidence someone was walking south on 36th and kicking the mailboxes.

Officers are also investigating several reports of someone puncturing car tires on North 32nd Street between State Street and Forsythia Drive between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Nine cars were reported as damaged, with tires punctured with a knife or other tool.

At this time, police said, it is unknown if the mailbox and tire incidents are related.

“No one wants to come outside and find their property damaged,” Boise Police Lt. Stan Niccolls said. “These neighbors appear to be victimized at random.”

Anyone with any information about the vandalism is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, log on to www.343cops.com, or text CRIMES or 274637, subject: Tip236. Tips can also be made via the Crime Stoppers Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/CSofSWIdaho. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
