Sheriff: Student arrested for bringing BB gun to school

A 15-year-old student was accused of bringing a BB gun to Marsing Middle School Wednesday, according to the Owyhee County Sheriff's Office.

The three schools within the district went into lockdown when reports came out that a student brought a weapon on campus. The student threatened other students and brandished the BB gun, according to deputies. An Owyhee County school resource officer on scene made contact with the student after getting the call at around 4 p.m. The officer searched the student's backpack and found the BB gun.

The student was taken into custody and is being held in a Canyon County juvenile detention facility. He was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor possession of a firearm on school grounds and disruption of the educational process.

The incident happened after normal school hours during after-school programs, according to deputies.
