At 1:38 a.m. Thursday, Jake Tally allegedly started a standoff with police after officers said he pointed a rifle at them.

Garden City Police said they initially went to the home in the 400 block of East 44th Street to serve a felony warrant against 48-year-old Tally. Upon arrival, officers reportedly saw Tally exiting the home, but he retreated back into the home when he saw the officers.

Tally is accused of pointing a rifle through a window at the officers from inside the home.

Officers did not return fire and the area around the home was evacuated. It wasn’t until 3 a.m. that Tally surrendered. He was arrested, as well as 35-year-old Jessica Dillard, of Garden City, who was in the home.

After obtaining a search warrant, detectives searched the home and found evidence connected to the aggravated assault and evidence of drug distribution, use and possession, according to police.

Tally was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and an outstanding felony warrant.

Dillard was booked in on an outstanding felony warrant.
