A fire threatened a house near Star Sunday afternoon, but no one was hurt and damages were minimal, according to Meridian Fire Department.
The call came in to Ada County Dispatch at about 2:45 p.m. as a structure fire, because a brush fire was burning near a residence, said Ken Welborn, battalion chief for Meridian Fire.
But firefighters from five agencies — Meridian, Boise, Eagle, Middleton and Nampa —responded and were able to prevent the flames from hitting the house. The blaze was contained within about 45 minutes, Welborn said.
About 5 acres were scorched and part of a vinyl fence damaged, he said.
The fire was likely caused by smoldering coals from a resident's controlled burn Saturday, Welborn said.
