Meridian is the ninth fastest growing large city in the country

Meridian is one of the fastest growing “large cities” in the country, according to a U.S. Census Bureau report.

Between July, 2013 and July, 2014 Meridian’s population increased 5.1 percent. That makes it the ninth fastest growing large city in the country, according to the report.

By summer 2014, Meridian’s population was nearing 88,000. The ranking was of cities with populations of 50,000 people or more.

The U.S. city growing at the fastest rate is San Marcos, Texas which saw its population increase by 7.9 percent between 2013 and 2014.
