On Thursday, for the first time in Idaho history, the National Restaurant Association will host its Pro Start student culinary competition here.
The state became an affiliate of Pro Start, the association's national culinary training program for high school students, last year.
Thursday's event features five teams from Burley, Twin Falls and Magic Valley high schools. Three Boise-area restaurant chefs will judge the competition.
The event starts at 10 a.m. in the Waters rooms of Boise Centre, 850 W. Front St. Judging of completed meals will begin at noon.
