Celebrate Smokey Bear's 70th birthday on Sunday

The Treasure Valley Fire Prevention and Safety Co-op  (Boise National Forest, Bureau of Land Management, Idaho Department of Lands, and City Fire Departments in Boise, Meridian and Nampa)  invites the public to join in the celebration of Smokey Bear’s 70 years of preventing human caused wildfires.

 

The party begins at  11 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 , at the Idaho Botanical Garden, 2355 Old Penitentiary Rd. in Boise. 

 

The  Centennial Job Corps will serve birthday cake at noon. The John William Jackson Fund and Meadow Gold Dairy will provide the ice cream.

 

The public will have free admission to the Idaho Botanical Garden during the event, and to the firewise and fire safety information booths and kids’ activities.
