Meridian's Concerts on Broadway series continues on Saturday, July 19, in Meridian City Hall's outdoor plaza with a performance by The Kings of Swing.
Since 1974, the big band has been playing jazz and swing favorites from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and other music legends from the big band era. Local jazz singer Ellie Shaw is the opening act.
The opening act begins at 6:30; The Kings of Swing take the stage at 7 p.m.
Admission is free. Limited seating is available in the plaza's built-in amphitheater but attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and folding chairs to the concerts; food and beverages are also allowed.
The 2014 Investment Resources of America Concerts on Broadway presented by D.L. Evan Bank summer music series is a project of the Meridian Arts Commission. In addition to the title and presenting sponsors, the concerts are also sponsored by the Meridian Development Corporation, Idaho Power, Meridian Arts Foundation, and Wine Glass Arts Development.
