Movie night in Meridian returns for the summer

The city of Meridian will kick off the eighth season of its popular CableONE Movie Night in Settlers Park on Friday, June 6.

Every Friday through August 29, except for July 4, free family-friendly movies will be shown in the park on a 30-foot inflatable screen starting at dusk.

“The positive response to CableONE Movie Night in Meridian has been overwhelming,” said Steve Siddoway, Meridian Parks and Recreation Director. “Bringing the community programs that give families a reason to spend more quality time together is an important part of our department’s mission, so we’re especially pleased with the popularity of this unique summertime activity.”

As many as 2,500 people come out weekly for the event. Families are invited to come early for live music, inflatables and other children’s activities. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

Families can watch the movies from low-level chairs or blankets. The concession stand will be open during each event, but families are also welcome to bring their own food, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
