The Gear Jammers Car Club will hold the 19 th Annual Funds Run exhibition on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Home, next to the VA Hospital at 5th & Fort.    More than 150 classic automobiles and motorcycles will be on display.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will raise the flags along the Avenue of Flags early Saturday morning to guide attendees and exhibitors to the display area.  There will be musical entertainment; hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream will be available; and numerous items will be raffled.

Residents from the home and VA Medical Center will view the cars and cycles, and will pick the Best of Show.  Car show competition is open to anyone wishing to display a classic vehicle.

Simultaneously, a dedication ceremony for the 8th Annual Field of Honor/Healing Field, hosted by the City of Eagle, will take place at Merrill Park on Saturday, May 17 at 11am. After the ceremony you may walk through the Field of Honor and view the display, including hundreds of large U.S. flags atop 8-foot poles in perfect rows on a field of green.

These flags will fly from May 17 through 27 as a patriotic tribute.

Each flag will bear the name of a veteran or someone currently serving our country. Flag sponsorships are available for $30, and sponsors will receive their flag at the end of the event on May 27. We encourage the spirit of gratitude to continue throughout the yearFor more information, call 861-7309 or visit the website at www.eaglefieldofhonor.org.

Money raised from these events will be donated to the Idaho Veterans Assistance League to help fund activities for veterans at the Idaho State Veterans Home-Boise throughout the year, such as bowling, fishing, zoo trips, trips to the Western Idaho Fair, rodeos, and other professional sporting events.
