A man suspected of carjacking an SUV Friday was arrested after a standoff in Canyon County Thursday, according to a Canyon County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Kenny T. McDonald, 40, was arrested Thursday afternoon. He initially refused to exit a residence near the intersection of Floria Avenue and Ustick Road, but ultimately surrendered, according to the release.

McDonald reportedly stole a black 2011 Dodge Durango at gunpoint last Friday around 4 p.m. near the 2000 block of South Kerr Street, according to Boise Police Department.

Caldwell schools went into lockdown Thursday afternoon as Canyon County deputies, the U.S. Marshals Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force, Caldwell police and Canyon County SWAT worked to get McDonald to come out of the residence he holed up in, according to the press release.

Lockdown was lifted after deputies arrested McDonald.
