The 53-year-old man who died Wednesday in a one-car crash on Interstate 84 near New Plymouth was Antonio Salas of Roy, Utah, Idaho State Police said in a news release Thursday night.
Salas reportedly was headed east on I-84 about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when he tried to pass a vehicle on the left shoulder but lost control of his car, Idaho State Police report. His Chrysler Concorde rolled multiple times through the median and Salas, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and ended up in the westbound lanes, ISP reports.
That section of freeway was closed in both directions after the crash, which is still under investigation by Idaho State Police. No new details of the investigation were released Thursday.
