Nampa's Amity-Chicago intersection set to close for more than two months

The intersection of Amity Avenue and Chicago Street in south Nampa will close Friday, Sept. 11, as crews get ready to rebuild the intersection.

“The intersection will be closed on a Friday so drivers can have the weekend to become accustomed to the changes and detour route,” Nampa City Engineer Len Grady said. “By providing this adjustment period, we hope to lessen impacts during the commute on Monday, which is when crews will set to work on improving the intersection.”

The intersection work is expected to last from mid-September until the end of November. It's part of the city's to improve Amity Avenue from Chestnut Street to Southside Boulevard.

Once the intersection is closed, no through traffic will be allowed on Amity Avenue between Powerline Road and Chicago Street. Traffic will continue to be detoured around the work zone via Greenhurst Road.
