Nampa police and Idaho State Police will be on the lookout for drunk drivers in the Nampa area this weekend, police report.
The targeted DUI patrol, part of the Treasure Valley DUI Task Force, will start at 7 p.m. and continue through the night. The message: "Drive sober or get pulled over."
An estimated 32 percent of fatal car crashes involve an intoxicated driver or pedestrian, police said. Because of DUI task forces and awareness campaigns, it is estimated that since 1980, the fatality rate of drunk driving has been cut by 50 percent.
