A Caldwell resident was involved in a vehicle crash that caused a diesel fuel fire on Interstate 84 near Arlington, Oregon Saturday, according to Oregon State Police.
Casey Leppert, 23, of Caldwell, was driving a semi truck west on I-84 when he crashed into the center barrier. He did not sustain any injuries in the crash. That damaged the barrier and caused 150 gallons of diesel fuel to leak onto the roadway. The fuel then caught fire, according to OSP.
Hazardous materials crews arrived on scene and contained the fuel, which did not contaminate the Columbia River, according to OSP.
