Police: Caldwell toddler injured when mother accidentally runs her over

A Caldwell mother accidentally ran over her 18-month-old daughter while backing out of her driveway shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Caldwell Police Department. The toddler’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say it appears that the toddler had been on the front porch of a home in the 3000 block of Arrowhead Drive with her father, while her mother was backing down the driveway in a Ford Explorer. Apparently, the child ran from the porch and behind the SUV, which ran over her legs before the mother realized what had happened.

The child was taken to a local hospital. Police are still investigating the incident and specified in a news release that no charges were filed as of Thursday morning.
