Both crashes happened Friday around 11:30 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost 35 near the Northside Boulevard exit.
The first crash involved two pickup trucks and a motorcycle. ISP reports that Matthew Newton, 58, of Caldwell stopped his Harley Davidson because of traffic congestion and was rear-ended by a Ford Ranger driven by Christopher Craig, 18, of Caldwell. The impact pushed the motorcycle into a Ford F-550 driven by Mark Pierce, 32, of Nampa. Newton was transported to Saint Alphonsus Urgent Care in Nampa by ground ambulance. Newton was wearing a helmet, and both Craig and Pierce were wearing their seat belts, ISP reports.
The second crash occurred five minutes later, directly behind the scene of the first crash. Cori Chapman, 55, of Nampa was eastbound in a Ford Expedition when she stopped for the traffic ahead and was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Mark Sosnowski, 60, of Boise, investigators said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
One lane of the Interstate was blocked for about 30 minutes, ISP reports. Both crashes are still under investigation.
