The owner of a 2003 Toyota Tacoma reported it stolen Thursday morning, and a couple hours later, the pickup was found half-submerged in Lucky Peak Lake with no one inside and no sign of whoever stole it, said Scott Turner, patrol sergeant for the Boise County Sheriff's Office.

Turner said he knew of no suspects in the theft. About 9:30 a.m., he said, a fisherman in a boat reported seeing the pickup partly in and partly out of the water downhill from Arrow Rock Road about three miles from the turnoff from Highway 21.

By about 11 a.m., rescue crews had retrieved the pickup and secured it in a turnoff next to the road. The pickup had taken some damage, especially noticeable on the driver side. It appeared likely someone pushed the pickup over the bank and into the water, but Turner said no official determination had been made as to what happened.

"It happens up here from time to time," he said.

The Boise Police Department is investigating the theft. So far, detectives have no leads or suspects, police spokeswoman Haley Williams said.
