Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan was riding north in the bike lane on Capitol Boulevard on Friday morning when a car cut in front of him, causing him to crash into her right front quarter panel, Fire Department spokeswoman Tammy Barry said.
Doan walked away without treatment, but his bike was not so lucky. It's in the shop now, Barry said, with heavy damage.
Barry said Doan was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His injuries were limited to road rash on his knees and elbows, she said.
Doan hopes to be back on the bike tomorrow, although it's not clear which one.

"He's trying to figure out how to get a different bike," Barry said.
The driver of the car was cited for lack of "due care to avoid a collision with a cyclist,” Boise Police Department spokesman Ryan Larrondo said.
