Two Boise residents killed in Saturday freeway crash

John Bisengimana, 35, was eastbound Saturday afternoon on Interstate 84 near Malta when he drove off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected and rolled his 2005 Nissan Xterra.

The vehicle came to rest facing west in the eastbound travel lanes, the Idaho State Police reported. The accident took place at 4:27 p.m.

Passenger Rose Uwimana, 47, of Boise, was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected. She died at the scene, along with a second passenger, Kabura Meliki, 62.

Bisengimana and a third passenger, Nsabimana Victoria, age 49 of Boise, were taken by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. The hospital said Monday afternoon that Bisengimana is in stable condition; no update for Victoria was immediately available from the hospital or ISP.

The crash remains under ISP investigation.
