Boise structure fire damages home; no one injured

A fire gutted a Boise home Sunday morning on the 100 block of Gettysburg Street, but the resident was able to evacuate safely with her dogs, according to Boise Fire Department.

The homeowner was alerted to the fire by her smoke detector around 7 a.m. She then evacuated with her dogs, according to BFD.

The home was significantly damaged, but the woman is getting assistance from the BFD Burnout Fund and the Red Cross, BFD said in a Tweet.

The cause is still under investigation but BFD credit the smoke detector with saving the woman’s life.
