First-responders Tuesday morning are hauling out the golf cart, found in the Boise River just north of Taco Bell Arena, said Tammy Barry, spokeswoman for the Boise Fire Department.
Ada County dispatchers received a call about the vehicle at 9:01 a.m. It was initially reported as a white van, Barry said, but turned out to be a golf cart.
Boise police and divers with the fire department searched for anyone who might need to be rescued, but authorities say no one was found in the river with the cart.
Investigators at the scene at around 9:30 a.m. weren’t sure yet how the cart ended up submerged in the river.
“We think it might be kids doing vandalism, but we don’t know,” Boise Police Lt. Stan Niccolls said. “Right now they’re going to figure out the best way to haul it out. The guys will go down and probably hook something to the axle and see if they can pull it out.”
