UPDATE: Authorities identify man who died after he was found badly injured in a Boise parking lot

The injured man found badly injured Saturday in a parking lot off South Federal Way died Wednesday evening and was identified Thursday as as Chris Babcock, 49.

In a news release, Coroner Dotti Owens said an autopsy was being conducted on the body of Babcock, but no additional information is expected to be released immediately. The news release listed Babcock's cause and manner of death as "pending further investigation."

Babcock reportedly was from the Boise area but had no permanent address.

Boise police also issued a news release Thursday, saying the investigation is ongoing but they have not identified any threat to public safety connected to this case.

Babcock was found seriously injured in the parking lot of the Flying J truck stop just before 8 a.m. Saturday. He was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, where he died Wednesday evening.

BPD detectives have interviewed “a number of people,” but are still asking anyone with information about what happened in that area late Friday or early Saturday to call Crime Stoppers at 343-2677. People with information that leads to an arrest could get an award up to $1,000, police said.
