One-car crash injures Washington man, ties up I-84 at Meridian

Eastbound lanes on eastbound Interstate 84 at Meridian were partially blocked for about two hours Friday afternoon after a one-car crash in the construction zone.

A Toyota driven by Andras Makai, 42, of Vancouver, Wash., hit a construction sign and concrete construction barrier, crossed all lanes of travel and hit the safety barrels just before the Exit 44 off-ramp, Idaho State Police report. The crash was reported at 1:15 p.m.

Makai, who wore a seat belt, was injured and taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Meridian, ISP reports.

Traffic was restricted in the area until after 3 p.m. while crews cleared the scene.The lanes were partly blocked for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
