Oregon man reportedly elbows Boise officer after rollover crash, ends up in jail

Devin J. Powsey, 22, of Baker City, Ore., was booked into the Ada County Jail early Tuesday after he rolled his vehicle in Boise and reportedly hit a police officer in the face with his elbow.

Powsey faces felony charges of aggravated DUI and battery on an officer, plus misdemeanor charges of resisting an officer and dispensing alcohol to a minor.

His passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was transported to an area hospital with what paramedics believed to be serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Boise police responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash near the intersection of West Main Street and North Whitewater Park Boulevard at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses told officers that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Main Street and ran seven or eight red lights before the driver lost control and crashed.

When officers arrived and attempted to speak to the driver, he ran away, and police caught him after a brief foot pursuit. When officers attempted to place Powsey in handcuffs, he elbowed one officer in the face, police said.
