About 1,900 Idaho Power customers lost service shortly after 11:30 a.m., according to the utility company. Shortly before 12:30 p.m., an Idaho Power spokeswoman said all but 190 customers had power again. Repairs to restore service to those last customers were expected to take several hours, she said.
First-responders initially suggested the outage was tied to an issue with a transformer, but the actual cause was a downed wire, according to Idaho Power.
The area of the outage stretched from Alpine Street to Overland Road, and Roosevelt Street to Curtis Road.
The downed wire caused a grass and structure fire in the 5100 block of Blaser Lane, according to the fire department. Firefighters had the flames out by 11:55 a.m.
