Development company Camtod Investments hopes to break ground this summer on a 12-unit apartment complex on the northwest corner of Overland Road and Clear Creek Drive in West Boise, said Penelope Riley, a planning expert based in Boise who’s consulting with Camtod on the project.

The Blantyre Court Apartments could be done by late spring or early summer in 2018, Riley said.

Camtod already owns the property, according to Ada County records. Riley said the company plans to demolish the home that’s there and replace it with three four-plex buildings. Besides apartments, she said, the new complex will have a picnic shelter area with barbecue grills in the property’s northwest corner.

Riley said Camtod has no plans to make the project any bigger than what’s planned now.

“Just because you can smash more things in doesn’t make it always a good idea,” she said.

That will come as good news to people who live in the area who are concerned about growing traffic loads along the Overland corridor between Cole and Cloverdale roads.

In addition to other apartment projects already underway, the Idaho Humane Society plans to build a new facility between Vinnell Way and Chase Street just west of Walmart.
